St. Louis School Discipline Law Practice
Students facing discipline – such as suspension and expulsion – have rights, including the right to a written explanation for the suspension or expulsion, a right to present their side of the story and the right to a hearing before an impartial hearing officer or the school board. Students are entitled to an attorney at their expulsion hearings. Students with disabilities, even those without an IEP or 504 Plan, are granted additional protections against school discipline. Students enrolled in college or university also face disciplinary issues such as placement on academic probation, accusations of a conduct violations or plagiarism, or disputes with the school about enrollment status. Our office is experienced in handling school discipline matters occurring at all levels of the education process.
