On December 31, 2025, Kennedy Hunt P.C. filed a complaint against J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC, alleging the company withheld compensation for our client in violation of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act.
According to the lawsuit, our client began working for J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC in or about January 2020. The lawsuit states that he maintained high performance evaluations throughout his employment. In December 2024, J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC informed our client of the termination of his employment. The lawsuit alleges that at the time of his termination, our client had earned commissions that were not fully calculated or paid.
Our client and J&J Ventures Gaming negotiated a severance agreement that was executed on or about January 4, 2025. The lawsuit states:
As part of the agreement, [J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC] agreed to pay [our client] three months’ base salary, in the gross amount of $16,443.98, on the first regular payday after the Effective Date, plus 50% of all outstanding commissions, amounting to $13,053.79 gross, subject to withholdings.
According to the lawsuit, J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC did not and to this day has not paid our client pursuant to the Severance Agreement.
The lawsuit states that J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC sent a letter to our client on January 14, 2025, alleging that he violated the Service Agreement because he “improperly solicited, advised, or encouraged current customers of [Defendant] to terminate his, her or its relationship with [Defendant]” and “[u]ntil [Defendant] receives confirmation that you are no longer soliciting [Defendant’s] customers, you will not receive the Severance Payments as set forth in the Severance Agreement.”
According to the lawsuit, our client then provided J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC, with an affidavit showing our client did not breach any non-compete or solicitation obligations to J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC. The lawsuit states that:
Despite the…affidavit, [J&J Ventures Gaming, LLC] never paid [our client] the agreed-upon payments under the Severance Agreement.
This case is ongoing.
